How to Choose
Replacing Your Post Top Globe
with The Lindy®
from LexaLite
To determine which Lindy post top globe you'll need, just answer the questions below.
Which size globe do I need?
Choose the globe according to the height of the pole. Here's a few guidelines:
- For poles 8 to 14 feet, choose the Little Lindy Model 408
- For poles 10 to 20 feet, choose the Lindy Model 424 or 425
What neck opening diameter does the pole use?
The neck of the globe (bottom opening) fits into the fitter (or capitol) of the pole. This fitter houses the electronics and lamp. Measure the diameter of this opening to determine the maximum size globe neck opening.
The Little Lindy Model 408 neck opening is 8".
The Lindy Models 424 and 425 are available in both 8" and 9" openings.
Do you need both the top and bottom, or do you need just the bottom?
The Little Lindy Model 408 is a two piece unit comprised of a prismatic top (or roof), and prismatic bottom (refractor). These are joined together by using the plastic clips provided with the top, or by the use of a clamp band. You can purchase our stainless steel clamp band, or, use a decorative clamp band that will fit the 14.11" diameter.
If you order the Little Lindy Model 408 bottom refractor only (so that you can use your own metal top) be sure that your top will fit properly on the Little Lindy refractor rim. Please refer to the Rim Detail drawing found on the back of the data sheet. You may need a clamp band to attached your own metal top. You can purchase our stainless steel clamp band, or, use a decorative clamp band that will fit the 14.11" diameter.
The Lindy Model 424 is a two piece unit comprised of a prismatic top (or roof), and prismatic bottom (refractor). These are joined together by using a clamp band. You can purchase our stainless steel clamp band, or, use a decorative clamp band that will fit the 15.9" diameter.
The Lindy Model 425 is a bottom refractor only, with a different rim than the Model 424. It is designed to mate with your own top. If you order the Model 425, be sure that your top will fit properly on the refractor rim. Please refer to the Rim Detail drawing found on the back of the data sheet.
Your purchased top and the Lindy Model 425 refractor bottom are joined together by using a clamp band. You can purchase our stainless steel clamp band, or, use a decorative clamp band that will fit the 15.5" diameter.
What version do I need? Type III or Type V?
This refers to the IES distribution type, which defines the light pattern that falls onto the pavement. In short, a Type III is an oval light distribution, while Type V is a round light distribution. Your lighting professional can determine which Type to use for optimum lighting performance.
What material should I choose? Acrylic, Acrylic Moon Glow or Polycarbonate?
Choose acrylic for general lighting applications where breakage and vandalism are not a major concern. acrylic Moon Glow is a diffuse material that cuts down on glare and provides excellent lamp hiding capabilities. polycarbonate is for vandal prone areas.
What accessories can I choose from?
Night Sky Friendly LiteLid® -to reduce light pollution and light trespass, all of our Lindy Series refractors can be outfitted with a metal LiteLid that rests on a rim inside the refractor (see drawing). These LiteLids are available in perforated versions so that just enough light comes through the tops to provide a pleasing appearance at nighttime, or non-perforated versions which reduce uplight to just 10%. By using LiteLid's our refractors will qualify as medium non-cuttoff distribution.
Stainless steel clamp band for attaching a top to a bottom refractor.
Decorative finials painted black in either flame or spike design.
Neck ring - a painted white metal band designed to protect the bottom rim from metal screw damage.
Fitter (or capitol) cast aluminum painted black, available in either Medium or Mogul base socket versions. Includes socket with two wires, mounting screws and a ballast bracket. Ballast NOT included. Fits 3" pole tenon (pole opening).
